It's time to simplify and focus on the things that really matter.
Mama Nirvana's Yoga celebrates simplicity, music, movement, health, awareness and spirituality. It is eclectic and creative in nature. We pay close attention to details because small gestures create powerful impact. We integrate inner and outer worlds through postures, breathing, movement, meditation. We use music to communicate what can't be said in words but which is essential to understanding. We are kind and loving and also exacting because yoga is potential power. We help students to experience that power in body. energy, mind, and spirit.
Mama Nirvana's is owned and operated solely by Ruth Anne Lundeberg. Studio policies and rules are for Mama Nirvana's (Easthampton studio ONLY; Amherst studio is now Jayadeva Yoga School, owned and operated by Jayan /Josh Shumer.)
Our yoga classes teach students details of alignment and form, allowing students to appreciate and benefit from the subtle energies and shifts that come from intelligent yoga practice.
Compassion is always a feature of the teaching. Kindness, softening, and opening stand alongside the challenges of a true yoga practice.
Inner and outer transformation happens quickly. Our yoga is dynamic, energetically, mentally and physically.
Our teachers are well trained in anatomy for yoga; yoga techniques and postures; meditation and teaching methods.
We are committed to modeling ethical principles in all our affairs.
We offer direct and clear feedback to help students achieve their potential.

The Mama Nirvana’s Manifesto!
Ruth Anne Lundeberg, Studio Steward
A very select and by no means complete list of principles and visions for 1) this sacred space, 2) our shared journey of self-awakening 3) our lovingconscious community of practitioners.
Everybody in; nobody out!!
The rules for use of the space are designed to create safety for and harmony between all members of this community; if you are here now, congratulations you are already a member.
Our studio is a sacred space; We practice the diligence and gentle self-sacrifice necessary to become skilled at creating, maintaining and dwelling within that sacred circle.
We invite/invoke the DIVINE to be present with us through our loving attention and care to the ways we interact with the space and beings within.
We express our intention and desire to expand ourselves and our spiritual awareness through voluntary simplicity and gentle austerity while there.
Let it place be a refuge for those who seek respite from the insanity of the world that our collective consciousness has created; complicated, often painful, restricting, sometimes terrifying and always overwrought/fraught with unnecessary human-made complexity.
For those who want to LEARN a NEW WAY of living and being; one which is full of peace and joy—this space and the things that happen here are the keys you have been searching for.
The Space itself and the way we run it is the teaching of AHIMSA which means radical refraint from harming. No paper, no plastic, no dust, no waste, no unnecessary energy use, no chemicals.
No “antibacterial” chemicals which have been proven unnecessary and compromise all of our immune systems by depriving the means for us to build appropriate antibodies through everydayharmless exposure. The prevalence of these toxins in our environment are causing very dangerous “superbacteria”—bacteria that mutates to survive all our attempts to annihilate it. (Here’s Karma in action —even bacteria want to be left in peace!) These chemicals NEVER biodegrade, poison the water supply, kill fish and another animals And ends up in drinking water. It IS after all, a POISON! Wash your hands with soap, people, please.
Guess what? If you wash with bar soap, any bacteria from the bar will rinse off your hands along with the soap. That’s what soap does! It dissolves stuff so it can be rinsed away with water.
No Paper! Need I say more about why this matters globally? We will accept checks (cash is better karma! LOL:) Paypal is a great option you can do from our website. but no paper receipts. No intake forms. No schedules handed out. No tissues. (wash your nose in the sink, and use your neti pot.)
No A/C: we need heat to survive the winter. Not true for most of us and a/c. It is simply unsupportable in the face of our impending global cataclysm—perspective please! Your bit of sweat is nothing but a drop of mother nature’s gift to us to cool down you naturally—your own inner a/c. Your choices add up and so do mine—So I choose to refund or extend any student’s membership rather than compromise on this. You will not die in a warm room. The heat is a teacher. I have much to teach and model that will render temperature a non-issue for you. You may be uncomfortable. You might feel it’s not safe for you. Perhaps not. If that’s the case it will be joyous to see you in cooler weather. But check with yourself because you might decide to embrace that discomfort as a point of exploration for your next level of growth.
The Floor: our floor is Absolutely non-toxic, dust free, with no chemical outgassing, sustainably sourced, will last virtually forever, can be dismantled and reused and therefore never need end up in a landfill. The floor may seem hard, but my dears, it is your BODY that is hard. It is your MIND that resists. Come practice on our beautiful floor and allow it to melt that hardness. The floor is another teacher, showing you where you are holding on to your pain and tension when you could be letting go and receiving more healing.
That’s all for now my sweet ones...My mind is full of the future with you and the radical sweetness we will experience together. JAI! JAI! Jai!
